At Base for Music, protecting your personal data is a priority. Base for Music allows you to stay informed about news related to your favorite artists. When you use our tool, we may collect personal data relating to you. 1. Who is the data controller?

The data controller is the company Base for Music, a simplified joint-stock company (SAS), registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Register under number 851 675 173, with its registered office located at 17 rue Bouchardon, 75010 Paris (hereinafter “We”).

2. What data do we collect?

Personal data refers to any data that allows an individual to be identified, directly or indirectly, by cross-referencing with other data.

We collect the following data concerning you:

  • Data collected directly from you:

    • Your email address, which we collect when you connect our tool to your music platform (Deezer, Spotify, Apple Music).
    • Any personal data you voluntarily provide during your communications with our services.
  • Data collected indirectly via your music platform:

    • All data collected by the music platform in accordance with its privacy policy, including in particular:
      • Identification data (including your first name, last name, email address, phone number, and country of residence);
      • Data relating to your activity on the music platform (including your playlists, favorites, and listening history).
  • Data collected indirectly via technologies:

    • Data collected via technologies that store, access, or collect information on or from users’ devices. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of local storage (localStorage) and session storage (sessionStorage) in users’ browsers.

We do not use cookies. However, we may store, access, or collect information using similar technologies that perform equivalent functions.

3. On what legal bases, for what purposes, and for how long do we retain your personal data?

3.1. Purposes:

  • To provide you with our services available through our tool (keeping you informed about news related to your favorite artists);

  • To create a user database;

  • To send newsletters, solicitations, and promotional messages;

  • To comply with legal obligations applicable to our activity;

  • To produce statistics in order to improve the user experience;

  • To develop music consumption analyses in order to improve our service offerings for our business partners;

  • To respond to your information requests and manage the exercise of your rights.

3.2. Legal bases:

  • Performance of the contract entered into with Us to provide our services;

  • Our legitimate interest in developing and promoting our business;

  • Our legitimate interest in retaining and informing our clients about our latest news;

  • Our legitimate interest in responding to your requests;

  • Compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations;

  • Your consent.

4. Data retention periods:

Your email address is retained until you unsubscribe from news related to your favorite artists.

Data collected via your music platform is retained until you remove our tool’s access to the platform.

Collected data may be aggregated and irreversibly anonymized. In such cases, we may retain this data beyond the above periods.

5. Who are the recipients of your data?

The following parties may have access to your personal data:

(i) Our company’s staff;

(ii) Our data processors, including hosting providers, newsletter distribution providers, e-commerce/CRM providers, data visualization tools, and audience measurement providers;

(iii) Our business partners, if you have given your consent to the transfer of your data. These partners include:

  • Clients of Base for Music services;
  • Artists, producers, labels, distributors, and record companies;
  • Any companies affiliated with the music industry or providing services to music industry stakeholders;

(iv) Where applicable, public or private bodies, exclusively to comply with our legal obligations.

6. Is your data transferred outside the European Union?

Your data is stored and hosted throughout the duration of processing on the servers of IONOS by 1&1, located within the European Union.

As part of the tools we use (see the section on recipients regarding our data processors), your data may be transferred outside the European Union. Such transfers are secured through the following mechanisms:

  • Either the data is transferred to a country that is the subject of an adequacy decision by the European Commission pursuant to Article 45 of the GDPR, ensuring an adequate level of protection;

  • Or the data is transferred to a country whose level of data protection has not been recognized as adequate under the GDPR, in which case the transfer is based on appropriate safeguards referred to in Article 46 of the GDPR, including but not limited to standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, binding corporate rules, or an approved certification mechanism;

  • Or the data is transferred based on one of the appropriate safeguards described in Chapter V of the GDPR.

7. What are your rights regarding your data?

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
